Charlie Wilson's War

Based on true life characters, the film is taut and not at all dry as could be expected from political movies. Tom Hanks essays the role of Texan Congressman Charlie Wilson, who led United States into its most covert war against the Russians. Ably supported by Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman, Hanks casts a spell of outrageouos believability to the proceedings. The first scene shows Hanks being felicitated with the highest award for a civilian and the rest of the movie is in flashback. Once it's done, the scene takes an entirely different meaning to what we could imagine.

"These things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world. .......Then we fucked up the endgame." - Charlie.

A well directed movie, its beauty lies in the witty screenplay, actual Afghanistan & Russian footage.

Rating : To be seen once.
